How long does a custom home build take?

The timeline can vary depending on the size and complexity of the home, but the average for a large custom home is 12-18 months for construction.  Before construction can begin, the architectural and engineering design process can take 4-6 months.

Do you provide design or do I need to start by working with an architect?

Crafted is a Design-Build firm. We have an in-house design team, which means we handle everything from start to finish!  If you already have plans we can work with those, but it is best for us to work with you from the beginning of design to ensure we have everything you need and that the home will be designed to meet your budget goals.

How does the process work when I’m ready to get started?

Contact us to set up a consultation to discuss your project.  We will explain our process and tailor a Design or Pre-Construction Agreement to meet your needs.

Will you take care of the demolition of the existing structure?

Yes!  You do not need to coordinate anything yourself.

Do you provide free estimates?

Instead of providing a traditional “free estimate”, we partner with you during our Design Agreement process to establish a realistic project budget and then design accordingly.  We charge a fee for this agreement.

Do you offer financing?

We have relationships with local banks that specialize in construction financing.  It is important to use a banker who knows this process, and large national banks are not good at construction.  We are happy to introduce you to these partners.

What areas of Houston do you serve?

We mainly service Houston’s close-in communities such as Memorial, Spring Branch, Tanglewood, Bellaire, Meyerland, the Heights, Montrose, and River Oaks. We have also completed projects in Friendswood, Sugar Land, and other nearby area, but our range depends on on the project type and our availability at that time.

Can I provide my own materials?

We cannot warranty anything that we do not provide or install, so we require that we handle all material purchases.
